Jaipur has
its fair share of fine-dining places. Some of these places have unique
architecture and surreal charm. While others have fantastic food, eerie
quietness and others are thronged by weekend eaters...
Here is a
list of places (In No Order of Preference) that I personally like a lot and
feel travellers would enjoy as well.
VAJRA: Vajra is an amzing, opulent restaurant inspired by Moorish
architecture and serves Contemporary Indian &
European Cuisine. The restaurant is a part of the Devi Ratn Hotel. Its a long
drive away from the city, right in the middle of no man’s land but what a
amazing place. I haven’t seen this kind of splendour in Jaipur. A must visit
for travellers for a unique experience. Its generally very quiet as not many
locals know about it. I was taken by my husband for a surprise dinner and would
always remember this as one of my most romantic dinner experiences ever!!

THE RAJPUT ROOM: The Rajput Room is located within the Rambagh Palace hotel in a
gorgeous hall, has Al fresco dining and serves European cuisine.
The interiors
will take you back to the bygone era of the royals! The Rajput room has
intricately carved marble walls, many arches and it overlooks the sprawling
Rambagh Lawns. You get into this place and come face to face with erstwhile
Indian Opulence. Service is impeccable and so is the atmosphere. Expensive, but
totally worth the price!
The only
thing that did not go down well with me was, I had made my reservations and
gone, but when we reached; before getting seated they told us we must spend INR
5000 at-least only then will they allow us in. I thought of that to be strange.
In the sense, if I have pre-booked and gone- I haven’t gone there to have a
soup and come back. You can’t be ordering me as to how much money I must spend.
So, please pre-book and check if there is a spending cap.

SUVARNA MAHAL: Opulent interiors, Royal service, Great food and gorgeous
ambiance. Suvarna Mahal is a fine dining restaurant at Taj Rambagh serving
Indian Cuisine. Expensive but one of its kind place.
STEAM: This is the lounge bar at Taj Rambagh Palace
and is a charming place to spend the evening. They have an actual steam engine
that has been converted into a restaurant. Steam introduced wood-fired Pizzas
to Jaipur and serves the best wood-fired pizzas in town. The lounge has a
Mediterranean ambience! It’s cosy, intimate as well as zesty with low-slung
couches, snug seating and plenty of space to relax and unwind.

SAFFRON:
The Indian restaurant at Marriot serves Indian and Rajasthani specialties
including delectable kebabs, curries, biryani, variety of Indian breads and
some fantastic desserts. The Menu is not very exhaustive but has a decent
number of dishes to choose from. The
Galauti kebabs and Degchi soola murg are to die for and so is the Biryani.
OKRA:
The round-the-clock restaurant at Marriott offers fancy global cuisine like
sushi, Teppanyaki. Italian, Lebanese, Indian etc. Its a gourmet delight. The most elaborate
buffet serving global cuisine. Its generally very crowded, so make sure to
reserve a table.
GIARDINO: The restaurant is a part of Jal Mahal Palace
hotel and by no doubt is the best Italian fine dining place in Jaipur. Its set
by the poolside. And I was told that
some of the veggies and herbs used here are grown in-house. There is a wide
selection of starters and mains and a great wine list to choose from and the
ambiance and hospitality is great. Just keep in mind, this is a fine Dining-
expensive restaurant but is worth every penny!
THE KEBAB FACTORY: This is the Indian restaurant at the Country
Inn & suites. Very packed over the weekends has a Live kitchen and a very
elaborate pre-fixed menu that changes every day. Great Indian food, balanced
spices and wonderful setting! The Menu is priced at 725 + taxes per person and
serves a very elaborate 5/6 course meal. The quantities are unlimited so at 725
per per you can eat to your heart’s content.
DRAGON HOUSE: The
Chinese Restaurant of Country Inn & Suites, Dragon House boasts the best
Chinese food in Jaipur. Its slightly on the expensive side but worth every
paisa. The ambiance is absolutely oriental. It has exotic Murals on the walls
and ceilings and walls and also has a outdoor seating facility as well. The
menu has a wide selection of Entrees, Soups, Salads, Mains and they also have a
few decent wines. Please reserve a table on weekends, else you might have to
wait long.
PESHAWARI:
This is one of the restaurants at the Rajputana Sheraton. The food tastes great
and the setting is lovely, usually large groups/ families come here to dine,
especially on weekends. Please make a reservation, else it maybe a long wait
before you get a table. The menu is not very elaborate but has a fair selection
of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, cooked to perfection and served
in a wonderful atmosphere.
1135 A.D.
: Based on the theme of a Maharaja's Dining Hall, Set inside The Amber Fort,
this place is all about ambience more than food. They serve you food in silver
Plates with silver cutlery, a la Maharaja Style. No alcohol served in 1135 A.D.
Great, opulent, Palatial ambiance but
service is just about OK.
